How Many Employees Do You Need to Get a Free Vending Machine in Canada?

Headcount is only part of it. Here is what decides whether your site qualifies.

It is the first question most business owners ask: are we big enough for a free vending machine? The honest answer is that headcount is only one part of it. What matters is how many people actually pass the machine each day and buy something. Here is how we look at it, and what to do if your site is on the small side.

The short answer

Most offices with 40 or more people on site qualify for free placement right away. Smaller sites often qualify too, when they have shift work, visitors, customers or long opening hours that add traffic. The fastest way to know is to send us your address and headcount. We confirm within one business day.

What actually decides whether a site qualifies

  • People on site per day. Not the number on payroll, but the number in the building. A 60-person company where most staff work from home is a smaller site than a 30-person shop with everyone on the floor.
  • Hours and shifts. A plant running two or three shifts gets far more use from one machine than a 9-to-5 office of the same size.
  • Visitors and customers. Waiting rooms, service counters, gyms, hotels and schools add traffic that does not show up in your employee count.
  • Nearby alternatives. If the closest coffee shop is a drive away, the machine gets used more.
  • Access. A spot people walk past every day beats a back room nobody visits.

Rough guide by type of site

Type of site What usually works
Office, 40+ people on site Snack and drink machines, often coffee too. See office vending machines.
Office under 40 people Often one combo machine with snacks and drinks in one cabinet
Warehouse or plant with shifts High-capacity snack, drink and fresh-food machines. See vending for warehouses and plants.
Gym, hotel, residence or waiting room Drink machine or combo, sized to visitor traffic
School, college or hospital Several machines across buildings and floors

Options if your site is small

  1. Start with one combo machine. One cabinet covers the basics without taking much space.
  2. Put it where traffic is highest. A shared lobby or a spot that customers also see can tip a small site over the line.
  3. Combine sites. If you run several small locations, we can look at them together as one program.
  4. Ask about other services. A water cooler or coffee machine can suit a small team better than a full vending lineup.

What a free machine includes

When a site qualifies, we supply the machine, install it, stock it, clean it and repair it at $0, with no contract. Every machine takes tap-to-pay, credit, debit, cash and coins, and reports its stock levels remotely so it is restocked before it runs empty. Frequently asked questions

We have 15 employees. Is it worth asking?

Yes. Tell us how many visitors or customers you see, your hours, and whether there is food nearby. A small team with steady visitor traffic can still qualify for a combo machine.

Do remote or hybrid staff count?

What counts is the number of people actually in the building on a typical day. Give us your usual in-office numbers.

What if we grow later?

We add machines as your site grows. There is no contract, so the setup can change with you.

Not sure if you qualify? Ask us in two minutes with your address and headcount. We serve 2,100+ cities and towns across Canada, including Toronto, Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver.
